26. West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, Morgantown, West Virginia
Founded in 1867, West Virginia University is a Top 100 Public University by U.S. News & World Report. The school, which sits on a 1,099-acre campus, is home to nearly 30,000 students enrolled in 184 degree programs across 15 colleges and schools. This includes the School of Pharmacy

In 2005, the WV Higher Education Policy Commission designated the West Virginia School of Pharmacy a “Program of Excellence.” The School offers a Pre-pharmacy program, Pharm.D., and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences with two pathways including Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences (PPS) and Health Outcomes (HO).

The cost of attendance for the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy is $776 per credit hour or $13,968 per year for residents. Non-residents pay $1,843 per credit hour or $33,174 per year.

 

27. University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy, Omaha, Nebraska
Founded in 1908, the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) is Nebraska’s “premier metropolitan university.” The school, which sits on a 150-acre campus, is home to nearly 15,395 students enrolled in 200 majors and programs across a variety of colleges and schools. This includes the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy.

Established in 1908, the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy was the third Pharmacy School in the U.S. to offer the Pharm.D. degree. In addition, more than half of Nebraska pharmacists received their training at the UNMC College of Pharmacy. The College offers the Pharm.D., and a M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Tuition for the College of Pharmacy is $9,164 per semester for residents and $18,332 per semester for non-residents.

 

28. Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Piscataway, New Jersey
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, was established in 1766, making it one of the nation’s oldest universities. Home to more than 65,000 students, Rutgers University Rutgers is the only university in the United States that is a land-grant institution, public university, and a colonial college. The school, which sits on a 2,695-acre campus, offers more than 300 programs across 33 colleges and schools.

Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy was established in 1892. The School offers the Pharm.D., a M.S. and Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a M.B.S. ( in Drug Discovery & Development, and several dual degree programs. Dual programs include the Pharm.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D/MPH, and the Pharm.D/MBA.

Tuition for the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy is $14,687 for residents and $30,239 for non-residents.

 

29. University of Cincinnati, James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, Cincinnati, Ohio
Established in 1819, the University of Cincinnati is among the top tier of the Best National Universities according to U.S. News & World Report. The school, which sits on 473 acres, offered the first bachelor’s degree program in nursing and the first emergency medicine residency program. Home to 41,970 students, the University of Cincinnati offers nearly 400 programs of study across 18 colleges and divisions. This includes the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy.

The James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy was established in 1850 as the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. The College offers the Pharm.D. as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Social & Administrative Sciences. The College also offers part-time distance learning Tracks in Drug Development and Cosmetic Science, and online Graduate Certificates in Clinical Trials Design and Research: New Drug and Device Development, Global Regulatory Affairs in Drug Development, and Cosmetic Science. 

The annual tuition costs of attending the Winkle College of Pharmacy are $8,965 for residents, $15,303 for non-residents, and $11,215 for metropolitan residents (Pharm.D. only).

 

30. Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Omaha, Nebraska
Established in 1878, Creighton University is one of only 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S. The school, which sits on a 138-acre campus near the downtown business district, is ranked among the Best Colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report. Home to 7,700 students, Creighton University offers more than 150 programs across nine schools and colleges. This includes the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.

Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions accepts 115 campus Pharmacy students and 75 distance pharmacy students each year. The School, which consistently ranks among the Top Private University Pharmacy Programs in the country, offers the Pharm.D. degree. Tuition for the program (campus and online) is $32,428 for the first, second or third year and $48,642.00 for the fourth year (3 semesters: Summer, Fall, & Spring).

 

31. Mercer University College of Pharmacy, Macon, Georgia
Mercer University was founded in 1833. The school sits on a 150-acre campus and it is home to around 8,341 students. Consistently ranked among the country’s leading schools by U.S. News & World Report and the Princeton Review, Mercer University offers more than 200 programs across 11 colleges and schools.

The Mercer University College of Pharmacy was established 1903 as the Southern School of Pharmacy. The College is home to more than 500 students and offers doctoral degrees in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ph.D.). The College also offers the Pharm.D./Ph.D. Degree and the Pharm.D./MBA Degree.

Tuition rates for College of Pharmacy programs are $645 per credit hour, $1,935 per 3 credit hours, $3,870 per 6 credit hours, and $5,805 per nine credit hours.

 

32. Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, Richmond, Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) was established in 1838 as the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). The school is home to more than 31,000 students enrolled in over 220 certificate and degree programs across 13 schools and one college. Virginia Commonwealth University sits on a 143-acre campus and it has 33 nationally ranked programs.

The VCU School of Pharmacy was established in 1898. In 1971, it became one of the first schools in the U.S. to provide a 640 hour clerkship program. This program required all pharmacy students to spend their final year in a practice under the “supervision of faculty preceptors.”

The VCU School of Pharmacy offers the Pharm.D., a Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. with tracks in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacotherapy, or Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes. The School also offers several dual degrees including the Pharm.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./M.S., Pharm.D./MBA, Pharm.D./MPH and the Pharm.D./Certificate of Aging Studies.

Tuition for the VCU School of Pharmacy is $6,099.73 for 9-15 credit hours (residents) and $11,639.23 for 9-15 credit hours (non-residents).

 

33. Temple University School of Pharmacy, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Chartered in 1888 as “The Temple College,” Temple University is an urban public research university with a student body of more than 36,000. The school, which has nine campuses including Rome and Tokyo (the oldest and largest foreign university in Japan), sits on 330 acres and houses 17 schools and colleges offering more than 300 academic programs.

The Temple University School of Pharmacy is home to more than 800 students and it offers the professional Pharm.D., and Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacodynamics. The School also offers Non-thesis based M.S. programs in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs and in Pharmaceutics.

34.Texas A&M Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, Kingsville, Texas
The Texas A&M Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, was established in 2006 in response to the shortage of pharmacists in the border region of Texas. It is ranked in the Top 50 for pharmacy programs in the country within a record time, as per the recent U.S. News and World Report rankings. The College operates from a three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility and it consists of two departments—the Department of Pharmacy Practice and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Offerings include the doctorate in pharmacy and a Dual Pharm.D./MBA program.

The professional student pharmacists at the Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy attain and practice their skills with the largest preceptor network in the state of Texas, 915 members strong.

Today, 44 percent of the college’s graduates have returned to South Texas to help underserved populations. The college’s leadership strives to entrench a culture of excellence, education, research, practice and patient care to each professional student enrolled.

Tuition for the Professional Years 1-3 (10 months/per year) is $7,632 for Texas residents, and $45,540 for non-residents. Tuition for year 4 (11 months) is $8,056 for Texas residents, and $48,070 for non-residents.

 

35. University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, Lawrence, Kansas
Established in 1866, the University of Kansas (KU) is home to 28,000 students and five campuses including Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Wichita, and Salina. The main campus (Lawrence) sits on around 1,000 acres and the university houses 13 schools offering more than 345 degree programs in 200 fields.

Among KU’s schools are the only schools of pharmacy and medicine in the state of Kansas. The School of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas was established in 1885. It was the university's first professional program and the third public school of pharmacy in the U.S. The School offers a Pre-pharmacy program and the Pharm.D. as well M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The school also offers a M.S. in Pharmacy Practice.

The Pharm.D. program is offered at both the Lawrence and Wichita campuses. The Lawrence campus is home to 150 students and the Wichita campus houses 20 students. Tuition for the School of Pharmacy, regardless of campus location, is $14,575.50 (18 credit hours x $809.75).
